It was a frustrating day yesterday, and I ended up posting nothing. I wrote my daily chapter of my (almost daily) installment-by-installment online novel, at http://SocialTechNovel.SocialTechnology.ca/ but could not get it to the point where I was happy with it. That took several hours more, today, but I have just posted Chapter Eighteen. I think the story moves along, though it was never meant to be a real page turner. A novel of ideas, not fast-paced fiction. Today’s chapter deals with the problems and opportunities that in influx of international students would provide, the opportunities including chances of improving transitivity and cross-linking.
It was a frustrating day in other ways, too, as I recount on http://SoftwareDevelopment.SocialTechnology.ca/sdwp/ I kept getting stymied but the ICPSR, the big holder of survey data, who keeps making their studies less and less available to the public. It is most annoying to see that the General Social Survey has been restricted to member institutions, along with the important High School and Beyond longitudinal study. Happily I downloaded some of those in past years, when the data was still available. I hope someone can help getting me access to these and other studies, which have been updated since I downloaded them, and, I hope, formatted for better access to the data. — dpw
